Model Apartment Design Feature: Waterstone of Westchester

It’s time for the latest installment in Model55’s model apartment design series, where we give you a behind-the-scenes look at our model apartment design and installation process.

Today, we’re featuring Waterstone of Westchester, an independent senior living community located in White Plains, New York, a suburb of New York City. Waterstone of Westchester offers residents the perfect blend of comfort and convenience, with gorgeous 1 and 2-bedroom units just a short train ride away from Manhattan.

During our vision session, the client requested that the model apartment design feel light and bright. To align with the building’s affluent setting, they wanted to pair contemporary senior living design with a sophisticated, elegant atmosphere and a luxurious feel.

Phase 1: Model Apartment Design

We learned from our client that their prospects are typically couples around 80 years old who are putting down a deposit for a planned move in the near future. Most of the future residents come from Westchester or Fairfield Counties in New York.

The model apartment design needed to be luxurious, aspirational, and slightly urban given the proximity to New York City. The client wanted to highlight the high ceilings and large windows to make the space feel bright and open. Art selection was key to elevating the space so that it complemented the opulent surroundings and high-end amenities.

We knew the model apartment had to strike a balance between elegant and contemporary, so we chose neutral base pieces and spiced them up with compelling, tasteful accents.

We selected companion art in the master bedroom with a tonal color palette for a soft and relaxing aesthetic. The art deco pattern shows up in other areas of the unit and is a nod to the nearby Empire State Building.

The dresser has a sandstone finish to provide lightness and brightness. A streamlined geometric design on the front adds visual interest without being too bold, and the mid-century legs keep the piece from appearing bulky.

This accent bench has a metal base and an antique gold finish, and the shape is reminiscent of art deco styles. Paired with the multi-tonal tweed fabric, it conveys luxury and sophistication.

In the living room, the coffee table is simple and modern. The client specifically wanted a glass top so the table wouldn’t feel too heavy in the small area. The gold T-shaped base with the marble shelf speaks to the overall contemporary style of the unit.

Phase 2: Fulfillment and Installation

After the client approved the design, our logistics team took over for delivery and installation. The delivery team sets up the furniture and thoroughly cleans the debris before our installation team steps in to finalize the model.

We’re thrilled with how it turned out!
