The Latest Interior Design Trends from High Point’s Spring 2022 Market

Spring is here, and with it comes one of our favorite annual events: High Point’s Spring Market, where we gather with other buyers to check out emerging interior design trends.

Markets give our team at Model55 the opportunity to refresh our stocking catalog, cultivate important industry relationships, and broaden our incredible network of vendors—all with the goal of better serving our clients.

We can’t wait to bring this year’s trends to our next model apartment design projects!

TrendWatch Themes from IMC High Point’s Spring 2022 Market

IMC High Point’s TrendWatch booklet highlights three themes that appear at market and that we’ll continue to see throughout the upcoming season. This spring’s themes were elation, growth, and synthesis:

Elation

Color and positivity are the names of the game this season for commercial interior design. Area rugs, wall decor, upholstery, and accent furniture are all trending toward fun and bright.

Growth

At long last, browns are beginning to eclipse grays in modern color stories. Evoke the serenity of a lush landscape by incorporating rich browns and greens into your model apartment design. Picture scenes of forest terrain, nuanced textures, and emerging neutrals.

Synthesis

Cultivate ingenuity, imagination, and resilience with a modern mix of textures, styles, and finishes. Eclectic surface treatments and accessories add a dynamic twist to modern decor.

More Trends from High Point Market Spring 2022

Here’s a peek at the other exciting trends we observed at High Point Market:

Versatility is big this season. We saw several vendors take best-selling frames and present them in multiple colorways to suit a broader demographic.

This trend inspires us to use great pieces that customers love or fit well in small spaces and adapt them to different color stories.

Natural materialsImage of natural material accent piece from High Point Market

Natural materials like cane, seagrass, and light-colored woods are still in the spotlight.

These materials help keep model apartments feeling open and airy, which is a priority for many of our clients. Darker furniture can make small spaces feel even smaller, so using natural, light materials allows us to maximize the space in a room.

We observed a shift from the gray upholstery of past seasons to gorgeous, rich browns. Deep cognacs were everywhere at market.

Cognac is a gorgeous shade that’s not too dark, mixes well with other colors, and brings sophistication to any room.

Textured upholstery

This season, we’re playing with textures. We saw so many fun, uniquely upholstered pieces at market, and we can’t wait to use similar pieces in the model apartments we design.

Shearling, velvet, and other textured patterns dominated fabrics on accent chairs and other furnishings, adding depth and interest to these pieces. Fun textures are visually exciting and create a satisfying tactile experience.

Improved buyer convenience

We noticed an increase in products that can be assembled without hardware and tools, smarter packaging solutions, and vendors maintaining fewer total SKUs to ensure their best sellers are always in stock.

We anticipate these trends will further streamline our quick-turn model apartment design and installation services.

How Model55 Incorporates New Trends into Model Apartment Design

Image of Model55 model apartment design processHigh Point always leaves our team feeling inspired and full of new ideas for model apartment designs, and the Spring 2022 market was no exception.

Whenever we return from market, we sit with our team to share insights and discuss the latest trends. Our favorite pieces make it into our catalog, which our designers rely on to select furniture and decor for each model we design.

We always ensure that design trends match up with prospective resident profiles. While a white shearling chair may add texture and brightness to a model for seniors or young adults, it wouldn’t be appropriate for a family with young children.

As always, we’re thrilled to have new information and ideas to better serve our clients. We’ll focus on exciting textures and patterns this season to add visual interest and depth to our designs.

Model55 is here to help apartment communities attract their ideal residents with trendy and practical designs. Contact us to build a model apartment that your prospects won’t be able to resist!
