13 May TV Homes and Apartments We Love
Have you ever noticed that one of the best topics for casual office conversation is television? Well, here in our close-knit community of cubicles, we love to chat about our latest Netflix binges. Luckily, we have a lot of common ground when it comes to what we like to watch on tv. That’s why it came as no surprise that writing a blog about our favorite interior design schemes in tv shows was a welcomed conversation.
So, I walked around with my notebook and asked everyone to share some of their favorite homes and apartments from our beloved tv shows. Now, without further ado, here are Model55’s top 5 picks for shows that nailed creating homes that tell stories through beautiful design:
#1. Gossip Girl
Blair's Apartment
The Waldorf penthouse (aka Blair's apartment), is everything you'd imagine an Upper East Side apartment should be. It is drenched in that classic, traditional style that inspires daydreams about owning multiple penthouses in New York and Paris. This style is all about classic luxury, with dark traditional furniture that stands out against soft finishes. My personal favorite is Blair's room. The perfect balance of sky blue and ivory is soft, elegant and luxurious.

Dan's Loft
The Humphrey loft is another favorite amongst the crew. The eclectic mix of traditional and modern style furniture is truly the stuff that urban design enthusiasts dream about. This apartment exudes Brooklyn's bricolage spirit. Meaning it is a seamless space created from multiple styles. #love

#2. Pretty Little Liars
Aria Montgomery's Home
This show did an amazing job reflecting certain aspects of the four main characters personalities their homes. A great example of this is Aria Montgomery's family home:
Aria aspires to be a great writer. She loves reading classics and has an affinity to the study of English. Her home tells her story perfectly. With the dark wooden ceiling beams and nailhead accent chairs, how could you not imagine Ernest Hemingway curled up with a pen and pad by the fire?

Hanna Marin's Home
Hanna's home is perfectly designed to reflect the new age American dream. It's clean and uncluttered style is something Marie Kondo-ians around the world aspire to. It's modern and inviting, just like Hanna!

#3. Big Little Lies
Madeline Mackenzie's Beachfront Home
If you dream about West Coast vibes, this home is the window you're probably looking out with your mind's eye from... the soft linen touches throughout the home go perfectly with the transitional furniture and accents. The subtle pops of blues and greens amidst the tone-on-tone finishes adds a subtle and calming vibrancy to the entire look and feel.

Bonnie and Nathan Carlson’s House
Seemingly set in the woods, this house is a great nod to Bonnie's young, hip, live-and-let-live attitude. It ties nature and boho chic together perfectly. Additionally, the perfectly curated mix and match look is executed so well, that it gives all of us hippie-spirited folks something to aspire to.

#4. Grace and Frankie
Grace and Frankie's Beach House
From the kitchen to the living room, this house is so chic and coastal, we love it! The nod to nautical in this design is apparent everywhere. From the blinds to the braided rug and everything in between, this home is a beautiful ode to what a beach house should be. And don't think we missed the pops of coral placed perfectly amongst the blue and beige!

#5. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Midge’s Apartment
Talk about mid-century design! This apartment is gorgeous and clearly timeless (wouldn't you be ok living in such a beautiful space?) Set in the 1950's, Maisel's apartment is modern for the time, but sprinkled with antiques that make the story of her home a real page turner! Additionally, the pops of color amongst the otherwise pastel ambiance make the place feel so alive.

It’s Kind of Like Your Model
So, as I was putting this blog together, one thing became really obvious about the single thing each of these tv homes have in common, which is they are all designed to reflect the characters who live in them. And that got me to thinking about what we do here at Model55. We design model apartments to reflect the personalities of our clients’ future residents.
